UHRS Reprocessing
Optimised ultra-high resolution data to reduce unforeseen ground conditions.
High and/or ultra-high resolution seismic (HRS/UHRS) surveys are crucial for offshore drilling campaigns or construction projects, because they support subsurface understanding from which appropriate solutions can be designed.
Our people have reprocessed data from all well-known shallow seismic acquisition vendors, gaining insights into the unique characteristics of the raw data from each.
The most interesting thing we have observed is the highly variable nature of shallow seismic data that is acquired and processed across the industry. This is both interesting and concerning, especially when taking into consideration how most engineers will not even look at seismic data. They rely fully on the interpretation and integration within an engineering ground model.
Unforeseen ground conditions are the biggest cause for concern amongst offshore wind developers. But if the shallow seismic survey was sub-standard and gets carried forwards into ground models, all is forgotten until something goes wrong deeper into the development program.
We can advise on the suitability of your shallow seismic dataset for its intended purpose, because we’ve seen a lot, and extracted much more information from HRS/UHRS data regardless of who acquired it and for whichever depth of illumination below seabed is required:
Cable Routes (Top 10 m below seabed): Sub-bottom profiler (SBP) acquired using chirp, Parametric or pinger.
Foundation Zones (Top 100 m below seabed): Single/Multi Channel UHRS typically acquired using sparker or boomer sources and either single or multiple hydrophones.
Drilling Hazards (Top 1,500 m below seabed): Multi-channel HRS acquired with streamer and airgun source.
At RockWave we have consistently assisted Developers, Operators, and Geo-consultants in bolstering their confidence in subsurface datasets. If you want to know whether your HR/UHR seismic data needs reprocessing, then we know what to look for and you can contact us here.
