5 Years of RockWave

5 years! The moment you are no longer a start-up. Having survived the early years, you should now be accelerating forward.... Sounds good on paper, right? The reality, as it turns out, was a little different... 

I originally planned to share a post to celebrate the milestone but then came January and anyone involved with Offshore Wind knows what happened next. Instead of celebrating, we found ourselves in cost-cutting mode, running a redundancy process and seeing our “established” business seemingly rolling back to square one.

It’s been tough going, and I feel for anyone in a similar situation. However, it’s also provided the opportunity to stop and review and hopefully come back stronger. So, where are we after 5 years and some time to reflect? 

Have we built a stable business? – I believe so. Notwithstanding a market shake.

Are we adding real value? – I hope so. Our goal from day one was to raise seismic standards both in terms of quality and service, and I’d like to think we’ve made real progress. But that’s for you to judge. Tell me below, we love open feedback…

Are we doing all we can? — Not yet. Until now, most of you have known us for seismic processing, and that’s something we’re proud of. But if we truly want to improve the quality of seismic data, we need to start looking at the whole picture. 

High-quality seismic doesn’t start and end at the processing stage, it requires a clear understanding of what the data needs to deliver, smart planning to ensure those objectives are achieved, expert oversight to keep it on track, and the added value innovations that provide a final fit for purpose product, whether that purpose be for geotech / well placement, ground modelling, boulder detection, seismic inversion or any other specific requirement.

That’s why we’re broadening our scope from Seismic Processing Specialists to a full Seismic Consultancy, leveraging our experience, innovation, and technical expertise to deliver you seismic solutions that are optimised and cost effective, every step of the way.
